Mike Steuerwald MD Appointed Associate Medical Director of First Airway

First Airway LLC, the creators of The Difficult Airway Course: EMS,  is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Steuerwald, MD as the new Associate Medical Director.

 

Dr. Steuerwald is the Director of Emergency Airway Management and the Assistant Medical Director of UW Med Flight, as well as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He has been an instructor in prehospital and emergency medicine since 2011 and is a regular contributor to Free Open-Access Medical Education (FOAMed). Dr. Steuerwald has been an active EMS provider since 2004, currently serving as a flight physician with the University of Wisconsin Med Flight HEMS team.

 

Dr. Steuerwald’s academic passion is emergency airway management, specifically using education to overcome the most challenging airway situations. This passion is what led him to join First Airway. “I am an airway nerd,” says Mike, “so I am beyond thrilled to be part of a team so dedicated to extending and advancing EMS airway education.”

As Associate Medical Director, Dr. Steuerwald will ensure all programs offered by First Airway best meet the needs of our training centers and students.   Mike will stay on the leading-edge of airway research, using this knowledge-base to help design a proven, rigorous curriculum that ensures each provider receives the very best in airway management education. He will also serve as First Airway’s liaison with national medical societies and EMS organizations.
