Society for Airway Management Meeting in September

The Society for Airway Management (SAM) will hold its annual meeting and workshops on September 20–22, 2013 in Philadelphia. “As a participant, you’ll explore new ideas, challenge your thinking and expand your network,” says Lorraine Foley, MD, SAM Vice President. “We encourage everyone with an interest in airway management to attend, especially this year as we are concentrating on collaboration in airway management amongst anesthesiologists, otolaryngologists, intensivists, emergency physicians and others.  And, if you are hooked on airway management, you definitely have to be there.”

 

The 2013 meeting boasts of 9 engaging sessions over 2 ½ days including hands-on sessions, expert roundtable discussions and pro-con debates; 29 faculty members from 8 different countries, and a new pre-conference dedicated to helping attendees meet the simulation component of the Part IV MOCA requirements. “I participate in the SAM meeting every year,” says Adam Law, MD, Professor of Anesthesiology and Surgery at Dalhousie University and self-proclaimed airway junkie. “It’s a great way to stay connected and test new ideas.”

 

David Olvera, EMT-P, presented an abstract at SAM a few years ago on behalf of his research team from the University of Arizona. “Presenting at SAM was an incredible experience. The feedback we received was invaluable and the ability to contribute to the collective airway knowledge was very fulfilling.”
